It’s no secret that I like to talk about science with anyone who will listen, and science education is a very important topic to me. In that vein, I would like to have a space on my group website for expression and outreach, where I can just talk about all sorts of things that matter to me. What is synthetic biology? Why care about science? How do we make a difference? Where are we going next (at least in one naïve scientist’s mind)? That, and more, will end up all tossed over here in what’ll probably be an only slightly curated heap of stream of consciousness posts. And if even one person finds their passion for science because of it… It’ll have been worth it.

I also plan to encourage my group members to write posts as well that I will upload here, as being able to communicate one’s research is just as important as carrying it out in the first place. Now, I know very well how stubborn a scientist can be when it comes to tasks that take them out of the lab (I am one too, after all,) but I hope that I can drive the interest to contribute something now and then. Time will tell if I will prove successful in this endeavor. Just keep an eye on the article authors to see!
